NCDS Welcomes Proposed CMS Rule to Streamline Prior Authorization Processes and Improve the Electronic Exchange of Health Data by 2026
STRONGSVILLE, OHIO, December 15, 2022 – In a statement, NCDS President Mick Polo said,
"NCDS applauds the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for drafting the proposed rule and encouraging the Agency to implement the Advancing Interoperability and Improving Prior Authorization Proposed Rule.
This constitutes an important step in easing the excessive administrative burden on healthcare providers, removing unnecessary roadblocks in reimbursement and making it more possible for patients to get the care they need in a timely manner.
Moreover, it is imperative that additional efforts are made to utilize the available technology to streamline the way our overall healthcare system function; as Medicare often sets the standard, we are encouraged to think other private and commercial health plans will follow their lead."
